Session: Strand K, Session 1: Intervening Early and Effectively: Preventing and Addressing Young Children’s Challenging Behavior
Abstract: Without effective early intervention, young children with challenging behavior are at increased risk of academic failure, expulsion, and behavior disorders. The Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention funded by the OSEP works in partnership with the Center on the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning funded by Head Start and Child Care to build the capacity of early childhood programs to address challenging behavior and promote young children’s social and emotional development. Through this collaborative partnership, a unified approach for the use of evidence-based practices for promotion, prevention, and intervention is being implemented across early childhood systems including Head Start, public preschool programs, child care, and early childhood special education. Faculty will describe the model and share resources that are available for adoption including training modules, intervention resources, and the opportunity to receive assistance for statewide adoption.  (11845)
