STRAND D, SESSION 1: WHAT WE KNOW (AND DON’T KNOW) ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION (HSRTI)
|
| Abstract: |
In this session, participants will learn about the High School Tiered Interventions Initiative (HSTII), a collaborative project between the National High School Center, the National Center on Response to Intervention, and the Center on Instruction. Possible similarities and differences between how HSRTI and RTI may be implemented at the elementary level will be discussed. Examples of how several high schools are implementing components of RTI and guidance tools developed by the HSTII will be shared. (13606)

STRAND D, SESSION 2: IMPLEMENTING RTI IN HIGH SCHOOL CONTENT CLASSES
|
| Abstract: |
Since RTI was developed initially for students in the early grades, typically kindergarten through third grades, and with a focus on prevention, considerably less is known about effective RTI practices at the secondary level. This session will provide school-based examples of effective practices and pitfalls for implementing RTI in secondary schools. (13607)

STRAND D, SESSION 4: RTI IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS: WHY AN ELEMENTARY MODEL IS NOT SUFFICIENT
|
| Abstract: |
Secondary schools present unique challenges to RTI methodologies. This session will explore why elementary models of RTI are not quite adequate for implementation in middle and high schools, and will identify what is known and what still needs to be researched for effective RTI implementation in secondary schools.
