Session: STRAND D, SESSION 1: WHAT WE KNOW (AND DON’T KNOW) ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION (HSRTI)
Abstract: In this session, participants will learn about the High School Tiered Interventions Initiative (HSTII), a collaborative project between the National High School Center, the National Center on Response to Intervention, and the Center on Instruction. Possible similarities and differences between how HSRTI and RTI may be implemented at the elementary level will be discussed. Examples of how several high schools are implementing components of RTI and guidance tools developed by the HSTII will be shared.  (13606)

Abstract: Since RTI was developed initially for students in the early grades, typically kindergarten through third grades, and with a focus on prevention, considerably less is known about effective RTI practices at the secondary level. Session: STRAND D, SESSION 3: MAKING RTI WORK AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA MIDDLE SCHOOL INITIATIVE
Abstract: In this session, PA's Response to Instruction and Intervention Framework for Secondary Schools, as part of a continuous school improvement process, will be discussed. The Framework and additional tools and resources developed by a diverse group of secondary school stakeholders, is part of a set of guidelines and recommendations for schools implementing RTII in Secondary Schools.
